Beauty in the Banal
This project is all about objects that we do not necessarily take notice of. Banal photography is a fascination with the everyday object; it is an expression of using the ordinary instead of the extraordinary within an image. You could class it under many genres such as a certain shape, colour or a scene, or it could just be a certain thing that somebody could find an unfamiliar beauty in.
The Pros and Cons of using digital and 35mm SLR’s
I prominently use both film and digital in my work. Although since getting a digital camera I must admit I tend to use digital far more often than I used to. Much of my work is taken using a 35mm camera and slide film. You’ll find that slide film is brilliant for bringing out the best in strong colours. I find it captures something that you just can’t get with digital and you’ll find that many professional photographers work with this medium.
