Out of Fashion

Posted by ptadmin at 00:31 on the 17th of June, 2009

In the anthology Out of Fashion (Faber & Faber 2004) Carol Ann Duffy asks contemporary poets to select their favourite poem, from another time or culture, which looks at how we dress or undress, how we cover up or reveal. The poems show how clothes, fashion and jewellery are both a necessary and luxurious, a practical and extravagant, a liberating and repressing, part of our lives. The result is an entertaining dialogue between the two arts of poetry and fashion, and between poets from the past and the present. So let's chuck in a third art, Photography, and party!

Introspection

From the Latin introspicere, "to look within", introspection is the observation or examination of one's own mental and emotional state, and mental processes. Expressed through photography this can produce powerful, emotive, and often unsettling images which communicate intimately.
