This is the old Balor theatre building with the new one being built just down the road. I think this was an old Ritz Cinema from the 1940's. It was a dull day so I decided on a B/W conversion as the building has some nice textures and shapes and I did some dodging and burning to grunge it up a little. I liked the manhole cover in the foreground as it plays on the forground interest feature that usualy makes a good landscape shot a rock on a beach etc The balor arts centre has a website www.balortheatre.com/ and hopefully they wil still talk to me after taking this photograph

This photo has been digitally retouched.

Croped to square format and converted to black and white red filter style darkening blues etc. Dodged and burned to bring up the textures and removed a powerline that ran from the top of the building out of frame.

really like this photo..the shapes of the building are great, the curves of the walls and angles of the roof are captured nicely, and i like the sky behind with varying shades of grey.
