I'm passionate about photographing horses and equestrian sport. I took this at the stables where my wife rides; I was lucky, the farrier was there and was working in good light.

I often thought about taking shots of my farrier...but he was so tacturn I never got the couage to ask him! No horse now sadly, so must wait awhile before trying! I love the steam...nice compositon

Great pic though I had to look at it several times before I worked out what it was :-) If it was my pic I might have gently lightened/dodged just the edge of the farriers profile to make it clearer. I think the reason I struggled to recognise the picture at first was because I did not see that the irregular black shape was a face and the rest of the pic with all that steam gives few clues; Even with the 'farrier' clue I had to work back from 'well that looks like a hand'

this is a great photo, i agree with robinhj i had to look twice to see the photo, makeing it even more interesting, a really good atmosphere is created
