I am studying a level photography and one of the units we did was the body. I explored the texture of my husband's skin and photographed in many shapes and poses. Whilst doing it I realised I was looking at his skin in depth, in close-up, was looking at the soles of his feet, the wrinkles in his fingers, anything in fact that we don't necessarily look at or just take for granted. I took hundreds of photos recording his blemishes, his skin tone, the hairs on his body. It became an act of love and passion. This photograph for me expresses a mutual passion and love.

Nice crop and good use of black and white to enhance and emphasise the skin and create mood. Sepia toning would also have worked well with image and perhaps a nice gold look to enhance the toning and texure of the skin. I do like the crumpled bed sheets, presumably this was taken on a bed? It adds to the statement of passion and undoubtly love. Do you have a colour version of this image, would be nice to both side by side. Emphasising the shape of his body by cropping in closer would have been useful too as would closeup work on his skin. An inspired shot and beautiful photography.

When I first saw this I thought it was an oblique image of a couple embracing, and then I soon realised it was one person. I like that notion of the image have that slight deceit. This , therefore is what I like about it , as I do not recognise this, even though in nude photography it is rare to find an origanal viewpoint. I also like the fact that we assume that this an affectionate portrait of a lover, this too is quite subtle, so all told a good image.

Hi Martin, Thanks very much for your kind comments on my work. It is especially special as I am a huge fan of your work and during my A level photography course I have looked at your work amongst others. I did want to create an unsual nude image and I am pleased you recognised that. Thanks again, Karen.

On the first reading I though this was two lovers bodies intertwined but it soon became apparent that it was just one person. It is a wonderfully intimate and sensual photograph, which brings something fresh and personal to a sometimes overworked genre. The lighting and pose are totally delightful -the only thing I would consider changing is the sharp break to black in the background. The whole thing really brings to mind the wonderful work of Manuel Alvarez Bravo -I am very impressed to see this at ‘A’ Level.

Hi Joy, thanks for your nice comments about my work. I agree about the break in the background - I was not in a studio just a bedroom and was using makeshift backgrounds made out of sheets. Don't know the work of Manuel Alvarez Bravo but will look it up later. Thanks again, Karen.

At first i thought it was two people, Very stunning photograph, you are drawn to it again and again Love the black and white as i feel this draws you more to a photo, and the fact even the wrinkles on his feet show I,m an oldie new to digital photography doing an OU course But can see you going a long way well done A true photo of love and affections
