People First
This picture was taken at a Christmas lunch held for members of a local charity called Bournemouth People first. The charity is a speaking up group for people with learning disabilities. I was involved with a project the charity undertook last year called 'mix it up' teaching members dj skills and then putting on performances. Since then I have often been asked to take pictures to document various events for the group. This picture was taken with a simple point and press camera. I wanted to capture the individuality of each person rather than the group because very often social interaction is difficult for some members. The great thing about the work this group do is to provide a safe and supportive environment in which the members can flourish. By focusing on an individual in a party environment I hope I captured this duality.
