Feeling Exhausted

In this photo is Sam Ryder who with 14 of his colleagues (including me) attempted to climb Mount Kilimanjaro in Sept 2007 for a South African Childrens Charity. This shot was taken a Gilmans Point (One of the Peaks) and I have attempted to capture the sheer anguish and pain Sam went through in getting to Gilmans. He very nearly quit with 20 metres to go and by the colour of him, you can probably tell he felt rather sick. I feel this meets the project brief as the subject doesn't know they are having their picture taken and it's a story of a desire to do something as a personal challenge and also to make a difference in the lives of others.

This photo has been digitally retouched.

This image has been slightly cropped with a small amount of colour correction.

It would have been nice to increase the F-stop so that the background was in focus, this allows a little context to the picture, otherwise it could be anywhere. The expression is perfect for what you are illustrating. Well done!

Thanks. Good comments. I already wish I could of done that but the truth is, this shot is a bit of a fluke. I got to the top and I was that dazed and confused that it took me 5 minutes to remember how to work my camera. Literally, I knew it was a camera, but could I work it? nope. It then started to come back to me, but I only realised I had the shot when I got home.

I think this is a great shot. However, I think you may have colour corrected it a bit too much - the orange doesn't look natural enough. Other's may disagree but I like shots that don't look like they've had much post production on them. Well done though.
