the lives of thousands brought to an early end fighting for the country they lived in. it started to bring home to us and our children how many lives were lost in the conflicts when we saw the grave yards. the decay of the physical body contrasting to the neat ordered grave yards.

really well framed, and think the small depth of field works brilliantly, shame about the small piece of dirt on the lense but other than that ,, really good!

thanks. poor editing! i use film not digital. i checked the orginal photo which was dirt free, then checked the scanner and saw something on the scanner which led to mark on the image.sorry about that, human error.

This photo half makes it, the angle and the short depth of field are all working in the photo's favour, but I think there should have been something more specific to focus on. I am not sure what that might have been, perhaps one rose, one cross, just something to anchor the photo. I think this language, you have worked out for this shot has great potential to be developed more.

Yes, I agree. There is something quite special about this photo but there is also just one thing that need to stand out (not particular in focus but because you eyes keep going off into the tree in the distance and that is not what you are trying to tell from the picture - if you know what I am trying to say here). Although, the colour of the flower is just beautiful - there is something very deep about it.

A great idea but if I had not read the explanation I would not have been able to work out what I was looking at which is not ideal.
