I usually play characters in my photographs. This one is me. I had split up with my boyfriend and wanted to capture the grief I was feeling.

I also have a boyfriend splitting up picture but I prefer to leave it somewhere far away on some external harddrive. It is very brave to share this pic with us.

No how you are feeling in this Portrait, been there done it, got the scars, still recovering, time is a great healer they say. just wondered if this would add more feeling in Black and White?

Dramatic. I love the way you show your inner emotions. That is a self-portrait in my eyes.

Emotion is often difficult to capture, but can be extremely powerful; especially in portraits. A great shot. A true self portrait.

Great emotion in this. I'd be interested to see what this would look like if you shot it landscape orientation and composed it so that you only saw half your face... Thoughts?

I love this. I'm incredibly impressed that you could get such a technically accomplished shot when you were in such a state. Was this cropped?

No cropping. It was rather surreal to be having a good old cry, and setting up the equipment at the same time! I just got the focal length I wanted and then used a cable release to take a series of images. I have thought about showing a series, but I'm not sure that that would add anything to the context.

Hi Liz, yeah very strong image. I think it comes from the disengagement, we all know it's posed but it's that blank stare to camera but past the audience. subtle and strong.

Hi Liz This shot has a lot of feeling it, and shows you thought about this it. Without explanation, we cannot comprehend what is going through your mind, the world you seem to be in is quite stressful. With the landscape idea, mention earlier I'd say half the face or even surreal !
