fake gold and sunburn. i love car boot sales, i love to see what possessions people are willing to part with, the memories attached to them, and why other people buy then. i am fascinated by these objects and often end up with a bag full of them. this shot was taken with my old Canon G3, which was perfect for these situtations as it had a 90 degree screen, so i could keep the camera close to my chest and get candid shots. for me, this is a snapshot of Britishness.

I love this picture. The colours, the subject, the angle, everything. I did notice you have posted two versions. Maybe I'm missing something but I can't see any changes.

I love this pic. Reminds me of the heritage market in Liverpool for some reason. It's nice to see such a naturally candid shot.

thanks for the comments! mk g - the only difference between the photos is the date it was posted - i was testing out to see if it made a difference to the ordering on the homepage (i am a web designer geek) Shaun - yeah it's at the cricket club, one of the finest car bootys in the world. maybe we have wrestled each other for a broken He-man or a boxed Spectrum 48k.

Getting close to the woman with the gold gives the picture impact. Although the overall composition is OK, I wouldn't have minded seeing just a little bit more of the other woman; particularly as that white object intrudes so much without telling us anything. Or else go square format and concentrate on the fleshy lady - that would be a great picture.
