Architecture
"You employ stone, wood, and concrete, and with these materials you build houses and palaces: that is construction. Ingenuity is at work. But suddenly you touch my heart, you do me good. I am happy and I say: This is beautiful. That is Architecture." (20th century architect Le Corbusier)
Architecture first evolved out of the dynamics between needs (shelter, security, worship, etc.) and means (available building materials and attendant skills). Nowadays architectural works are perceived as cultural and political symbols and works of art. Cities, regions and cultures continue to identify themselves with (and are known by) their architectural monuments.
Churches, skyscrapers, housing estates, castles, stations, mosques, hotels or your neighbour's semidetached house? Take an architecural image and try to capture size, space, volume, texture, light, shadow, materials, environment and colours.
Also, why not have a look and get inspired by this week's new HDR tutorial in our techniques section?
