Beauty in the Banal
This project is all about objects that we do not necessarily take notice of. Banal photography is a fascination with the everyday object; it is an expression of using the ordinary instead of the extraordinary within an image. You could class it under many genres such as a certain shape, colour or a scene, or it could just be a certain thing that somebody could find an unfamiliar beauty in.
There’s many photographer’s who work with this style such as Stephen Shore, Stephen Gill and Uta Barth
When taking images like this think about the angle of your images you could shoot at obscure angles to make the image more interesting.
The project is completely open to your interpretation so a description of what the shot is about is important.
Here is an example of what I feel could be classed under banality.
